"you know what would be cool?..... if it was made out of stone"
For the last 2 years I've been experimenting with carving stone, mostly Indiana limestone and Naxos marble. The act of carving the earth is fascinating to me for many reasons namely the mark we can inflict on our time here on earth. And the fact that we've been carving stone since the dawn of time. Pairing that with the super charged contemporary design of racing machines i.e. dirt bikes and race cars, I've stumbled upon an unseen collision of carving an ancient material in a refreshing new way.
Racing machines carve the earth and the lines they create in the ground is unique to itself and from way above, beautiful.
The sculptures resemble the pipe like interworking of engines and the welds that hold them together. With the overall shape referring to actual satellite imagery of racing tracks.
